Find an FTCA Attorney Captions

How do I find a lawyer to sue either a military hospital or a VA hospital?

Hi, I'm Paul McConnell, a veteran and trial attorney with The Doctor Lawyer Team. Let me first say you've come to the right place. But what you should be looking for is an attorney that's experienced in something called the Federal Tort Claims Act. That's the key: FTC or Federal Tort Claims Act. And you either want to search for that, or discuss with any potential attorneys whether they have such experience under the Federal Tort Claims Act. Many attorneys, maybe even most attorneys, never heard of it, or certainly aren't familiar with it, or certainly not experienced in it—but that's the key. Look for an attorney that has experience under the Federal Tort Claims Act.

Now, it's not necessary that the attorney be in the same location, even the same state that you're currently located, or wherever the acts of negligence took place. For example, We represent clients throughout the United States. And why is that? It's because the Federal Tort Claims Act is just as it says in the title—it's a federal law, and often starts with an administrative process. For example, the administrative process, the paperwork and documents, and medical records and the like, and the opinions that we submit, go to—in the case of the VA—to the tort claims branch in Washington, DC; in the case of military hospitals, the Department of Defense; and active duty claims to the Department of the Army, Department of Navy, and the like.

So how is it that we do this? Well, as you can imagine, in today's society we do it with technology, we communicate via telephone, zoom and email, and when necessary, we travel to you.
